Alexandra
Meet Alexandra Tsiara - a classical violin teacher in Greek & English.
Alexandra holds a diploma in violin and advanced music theory, as well as an Integrated Master's degree in Composition from the Department of Music Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Alexandra specialises in violin teaching, early childhood music education, and the creation of children's musical ensembles.
With many years of experience as a violin teacher at conservatories in Thessaloniki, Veria, and Florina - Alexandra founded and directed a children's string orchestra. Since 2023, she has been working in Cyprus, teaching at music schools and kindergartens.
From 2013 to 2022, she was an active member of the Megaron Youth Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki (MOYSA), participating in numerous concerts and collaborations with prominent artists and musical ensembles, including the State Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki, the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki, and artists such as Michalis Oikonomou, Myron Michailidis, the ensemble Takim, and Eleftheria Arvanitaki.
She has attended violin and orchestral seminars with Angel Stankov, Simos Papanas, and Andreas Sousamoglou, as well as composition and improvisation seminars with members of the State Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki. She also participated with a full scholarship in the Ingenium Academy Summer Music Programme in Winchester, England.
Alongside her teaching activity, she is actively involved in composition. Her works have been presented at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, the Vafopouleio Cultural Centre, and in Winchester, England. She has received the following distinctions:
• 1st Prize at the International Composition Competition "Fountoulis" (2011)
• Third Honourable Mention at the Panhellenic Competition of North College (2016)
• Selection of her work "Harmolypi" for performance at the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall (2023)
Alexandra's goal is to pass on to her students the correct technique, a love for music, the ability to express themselves through it, and the beauty of collaboration.
